Poem 1

I have a few awesome things today. Well “I” think they’re awesome, you might just think it’s dullsville.

9 more posts and then I hit the big 100!!!

In 2 days I turn 36!!! (Okay, that’s not really awesome, but it’s better than turning 100 years old, maybe.)

Last night I had to work a double shift. (This is also NOT awesome, but I couldn’t help but post just a bit of a mini rant here, I hate being forced to work overtime!) I’m in a union and I have VERY little seniority, therefor I was forced to stay another 8 hours. (SHEESH I was being forced to make time and a half? Doesn’t that TOTALLY suck? I’m such a whiner.)

Because of the overtime, I had UBER amounts of time to put this blog together. I was pretty knackered, however, I plodded through and put it together anyhow. (I’m pretty happy that I wasn’t hungover during my normal shift as I would have happily slept under my desk for the second 8 hour stint had I been. AND I wouldn’t have done this blog) So if I’m a little loopy … or my sentences go more astray than usual … it’s because I’m punch drunk … not the REGULAR drunk.

It’s likely I got a LOT of reading done last night. (Aw-fookin-some)

(post note-I didn’t … I read blogs all night, chatted on yahoo messy … and generally wasted the night away updating things on this blog, which turned out to be nothing much in the end.)

I love … abso-bloody-lutely LOVE Hidden Valley Ranch Buttermilk Ranch Dressing. (Yeah … more awesomeness)

I wanted to post a fond farewell to the ever gracious and uber newsy guy Paul Harvey. He lived a good long life and I always enjoyed his little news pages so I was informed of “The rest of the story” (It’s not awesome that he died, but he was an awesome fella.)

(I’m going to stop using the term ‘awesome’ now)

RIP Paul

I got this fancey schmancy award from the Lovely and Talented Braja, from LOST and FOUND in INDIA. This award was given to me for the following blog comment:

“Perhaps I’ll blog about my liquor induced chat rages one of these first days. I just have to remember one.”
(I’m thinking now, it might be a better idea to record one!)

So … for my acceptance speach:

“I’d like to thank the ACADAMY … for recognizing GENIUS when they see it.” (That’s a quote from the quirky little movie ‘Satisfaction’) Thanks so much Braja you fine wonderful woman! It’s lovely to be aknowledged.

A quick funny for the day … Ladies … this is exactly why we (I mean me, myself, and I) don’t allow men to take messages. Men, we (see earlier we) don’t hold it against you … I’ll tell you why momentarily.

I know all you gentlement are waiting with bated breath on why we (again I mean me, myself and I) don’t hold messages like these against you, it’s because they’re so bloody funny. Seriously, remember my post from yesterday? What is most important in a significant other? I said ‘HUMOR’ … well … that was mine, I suspect loyalty should be tossed in there to, since whoever took this message really did try to get all the facts!!! HE HE HE!!!

Funny stuff I find. I’m good … I know it … no really folks … don’t bow. Oh geez … now I’m embarrassed! And flowers? Oh my!

Moving ON. This is my dream cottage. If I win the 173 Mil in the lottery, I’m off to Ireland to build this cottage, and not in runny watercolors either. I’m guessing someone can fashion a floor-plan stylized somewhat close to this vision.

And on with the rest of the Surry overnight madness show …

ஜ~§Quote of the Day§~ஜ

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.
Thomas E. Lawrence

ஜ~§The Question Of The Day§~ஜ

If you won the lottery, what would you do with your newfound riches?

*points upwards* I’d build my dream cottage, on the southern coast of Ireland. Yeah … I’d have some animals, and a HUGE arse garden. Yup yup … that’s what I’d do.

ஜ~§The Word Of The Day§~ஜ

adjective: 1. Holding resolutely to a purpose, belief or opinion. 2. Stubbornly unyielding.

from L.L. extemporaneus, from L. ex tempore “offhand, in accordance with (the needs of) the moment,” from ex- “out of” + tempore, abl. of tempus (gen. temporis) “time.” The L. form extempore had been in use in Eng. since c.1553.

“An extemporaneous lecture.” or “An extemporaneous speech.”

ஜ~§What I’m Reading§~ஜ

Promises in Death. This is kind of a sad one for me … as the murder victim is a character that we’ve come across before in the series. =(

ஜ~§What I’m Watching§~ஜ

Tonight is: Family Guy and American Dad … YAY. I’m a HUGE fan of Stewie and Brian.

Poem 1

YE learned sisters which haue oftentimes
beene to me ayding, others to adorne:
Whom ye thought worthy of your gracefull rymes,
That euen the greatest did not greatly scorne
To heare theyr names sung in your simply layes,
But ioyed in theyr prayse.
And when ye lift your owne mishaps to mourne,
Which death, or loue, or fortunes wreck did rayse,
Your string could soone to sadder tenor turne,
And teach the woods and waters to lament
Your dolefull dreriment.
Now lay those sorrowfull complaints aside,
And hauing all your heads with girland crownd,
Helpe me mine owne loues prayses to resound,
Ne let the same of any be enuide,
So Orpheus did for his owne bride,
So I vnto my selfe alone will sing,
The woods shall to me answer and my Eccho ring.

Edmund Spenser

ஜ~§Recipe of the Day§~ஜ

Anchovy and Rosemanry Roasted Lamb

6 garlic cloves
9 flat anchovy fillets, drained and patted dry
1/4 cup olive oil
2 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 (6- to 7-lb) semiboneless leg of lamb (aitchbone removed), all but a thin layer of fat discarded and lamb tied
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon black pepper

Special equipment: a 17- by 11-inch roasting pan (or larger) with a rack; an instant-read thermometer

Marinate lamb:
Mince garlic and anchovies and mash to a paste with a large heavy knife, then stir together with oil and rosemary in a small bowl. Pat lamb dry and transfer, fat side up, to rack in pan. Make several small 1-inch-deep slits in lamb with a paring knife, then rub marinade over entire surface of lamb, pushing some marinade into slits. Marinate lamb, loosely covered, at room temperature 1 hour.

Roast lamb:
Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 400°F.

Sprinkle lamb all over with salt and pepper, then roast until thermometer inserted into thickest part of lamb (almost to the bone but not touching it) registers 125°F for medium-rare, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours (temperatures in thinner parts of leg may register up to 160°F). Let stand 30 minutes before slicing.

Cooks’ note:
Lamb can be marinated, covered and chilled, up to 5 hours. Bring to room temperature, about 1 hour, before roasting.

Brightest Blessings,
