I Crave Your Mouth, Your Voice, Your Hair

Strange how many things people can have in common. I was just reading Vic’s post over at What Were You Thinking? and I thought I would just take her idea and run with it … I’m a thief in the NIGHT like that. (well I WAS reading her post at 4am!)

Age 5: I wanted to be Barbie. I really wanted to drive the cool Barbie Car. Oh yeah.

Age 7: I just KNEW I would grow up to be a Solid Gold dancer. Mmmhmmm … my biggest dream from the age of 7 until SG went off the air. I was devastated when that happened. (While I wasn’t an SG dancer … I did go on to dance for the next 15 odd years or so)

*skips over a few years as the SG thing really stuck and held*

Age 13: Wanted to grow up and marry Davey Jones. That’s right Vic, we both were after the same cutie patootie from the Monkees … oh I could hide … neath the wing … of the bluebird …

What? you dunna wanna hear me sing that song? Well hells bells … FINE! *ceases screaming*

Age 15: Become a famous actress and/or singer and/or dancer. Make lots of money and buy dream car, which at the time, and I KID YOU NOT, was a Nissan Pulsar NX. (I am such a schmuck)

Age 17: Aha!!! The dream of being a dancer on TV was renewed, under the guise of “In Living Color”. WEET! (another dream went unfulfilled!)

heh … I did finally end up driving a Nissan Pulsar though. Strange how the little dreams can come true!!!

Okay … I can be SUCH a fruitloop sometimes. I was getting really frustrated with Google Reader, because I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t change my settings to show only those posts that I’d never read. AHA and the lightbulb has finally shown on the “LINK” that says the number of new items as opposed to the ‘All Items’ link. *taps head with heal of hand* Duh duh duh!!!

A couple of awesome things have happened recently, the first one being is that an OLD OLD friend of mine from grade school got in touch with me via face book. I’m really looking forward to catching up with her. The second thing is that I finally got myself a Vista disk, so I’ll be working on my computer for the next day or so. The THIRD thing is that I belatedly put in for a vacation day for this Thursday the 9th, and I GOT it … I was sooo surprised. So NOW … I have Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off this week. A four day weekend for 1 measly vacation day. DOUBLE HOOT!

Holy crappoly … I’m sooo bloody tired right now, I can barely keep my eyes open!

I have a funny, but I’ll post it tomorrow … I’m really rambling here!

So let’s carry on my wayward …

ஜ~§Quote of the Day§~ஜ

A good laugh is sunshine in the house.
William Makepeace Thackeray

ஜ~§The Question Of The Day§~ஜ

Do you change clothes when you come home from work or class? What do you put on?

ஜ~§The Word Of The Day§~ஜ

adjective: In the style of Cicero, marked by ornate language, expansive flow, forcefulness of expression, etc.

After Marcus Tullius Cicero, Roman statesman, orator, and writer (106-43 BCE). Another eponym derived from Cicero’s name is cicerone (a tour guide).

“Oxford University mooted the idea of establishing a business school six years ago, prompting 500 black-gowned dons to storm into the 17th-century Sheldonian Theatre in protest. Harvard’s business school dates from 1908. Cambridge succumbed in 1990. But outraged Oxonians unleashed volleys of Ciceronian oratory, arguing that the groves of academe should be out of bounds to commerce.”

ஜ~§What I’m Watching§~ஜ

Tonight is: I don’t even know what day of the week it is. I’m pretty sure tonight was just Heroes. (which I nearly spelled heiroies, I’m a little punchy)

ஜ~§Poem Of The Day§~ஜ

I Crave Your Mouth, Your Voice, Your Hair

Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because —
because — I don’t know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don’t leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don’t leave me for a second, my dearest,

because in that moment you’ll have gone so far
I’ll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

Pablo Neruda

ஜ~§Recipe of the Day§~ஜ

Baked Scallops (I just LOVE Scallops)

2 lbs scallops (about 4 cups)
1 cup dry white wine
6 Tbsp unsalted butter, separated 3 Tbsp and 3 Tbsp
1 medium onion, chopped fine
2 1/2 Tbsp flour
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs

1 Preheat oven to 400°F. Place scallops in a medium sauté pan. Add the wine and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, cover and simmer for 4 minutes. No longer. Remove the scallops to a 1.5 quart casserole baking dish. Pour off the cooking liquid to a separate container and reserve.

2 Heat 3 Tbsp butter in the sauté pan on medium heat. Add the onions and cook until wilted, a couple minutes.

3 Slowly sprinkle the flour and add the cooking liquid over the butter onion mixture, whisking vigorously while you do so. As soon as the sauce is thickened, add it to the scallops in the casserole baking dish. Stir to fully incorporate the scallops into the sauce.

4 Sprinkle bread crumbs over the scallops and dot with the remaining 3 Tbsp butter. Bake in the oven at 400°F until bubbly and brown, approximately 15 minutes.

Serves 6. Serve with lemon slices.

Brightest Blessings,

You are adorable! I, too, had the dream of becoming a famous actress and/or singer and/or dancer…but somewhere in between all of that, I wanted to be an astronaut! No kidding! I had my heart set on it, Darling. Then I discovered Biology, Physical Science, Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry – you get the picture – and I QUICKLY decided, this totally sucks! Those areas are not my strengths, that’s for sure. I still do not know what I want to be when I grow up! ;)Thanks for the laugh, and letting me join you on a trip down memory lane!Love,Taryn
