Way to bury the lead!

Heya bloggy friends and neighbors! How goes it for everyone? I hope it’s fine and well.

(I’m making my font bigger on instructions from a fellow blogger who doesn’t want to find her reading glasses. HEH You know who you are babe!)

I only have a couple of things to touch on today. First it’s Sunday and there’s a fair bit of decent TV on Sunday nights. My line-up for the night is Merlin, True Blood, Army Wives, In Plain Sight, and The Next Food Network Star.

I’m really enjoying Merlin as I’ve always enjoyed those types of fantasy stories. I love the new take on the story with Merlin and Arthur being younger and their relationship being new and shaky.

True blood is moving into a type of pop-culture cult phenom which is always fun. It’s spooky and strange, and there are hot vamps, what more could one ask for? (oh and for the guys hot chickies too!)

Next is Army Wives and seriously I’ll tell you the reasons that I decided to start watching it. There are Five of them:
1. Kim Delaney ~ I’ve enjoyed her as an actress since I first saw her on Law and Order: SVU.
2. Catherine Bell ~ Same as above but from Jag, Threshold, The Triangle and The Good Witch.
3. Brigid Brannagh ~ I first saw her in the series Charmed and I just adored her smoky voice and vibrant red hair. She’s hardcore and strong in this show.
4. Sally Pressman aka Roxy LeBlanc ~ When I first saw the promotions for Army Wives this character caught my attention. She’s pretty new to the acting scene and I hadn’t seen her before. Her one-liners in the show are a riot! ie. “It’s hotter than the hinges on the gates of Hell”
and finally
5. Drew Fuller ~ all I can say is … YUMMM OOOMGGG Hells yeah!

If you’re not watching this show, you probably should be as it’s funny, sweet, poignant, annoying, and an all around good time!

In Plain Sight is another fantastic drama I watch. (do you all notice a trend around here? I have VERY FEW reality shows on my agenda!!!) The main character Mary Shannon is a kick arse US Marshall who protects people in the Witness Protection Program. Her counterpart Marshall Mann provides the comic relief and her mother is none other than the lovely and talented Lesley Ann Warren. Fabu show!!!!

Okay … enough touting my favorite shows. I probably should have started out with this … but I’m all about burying the lead!

I had a class (one of my Safety Culture workshops) on Wednesday July 8. In the class was the Manager of the Training Department for my company. After class he gave some FANTASTIC feedback on how much he enjoyed the class and how well my partner and I presented it!!! I expressed my interest in working in the Training department when a position opened up and he seemed to be genuinely pleased that my interest lie in that direction. He stated that he thought that my aptitude and attitude would be welcome in the department. So here’s to me all rubbin’ shoulders with the right peeps!!!

And the last little bit of fluff for the day … HARRY POTTER OPENS MIDNIGHT ON TUESDAY JULY 20! Guess who’s going to be at the midnight show? Mmmhmmm that be ME ME ME!!! Wooeeoowwie!!

Here’s a link to the trailer if you’d like to take a gander:

ஜ~§Quote of the Day§~ஜ

I am doomed to an eternity of compulsive work. No set goal achieved satisfies. Success only breeds a new goal. The golden apple devoured has seeds. It is endless.
Bette Davis

Panoply

PRONUNCIATION:
(PAN-uh-plee)

MEANING:
noun:
1. A wide-ranging array of resources.
2. A full suit of armor.
3. A protective covering.
4. A ceremonial attire or paraphernalia.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Greek panoplia (a complete suit of armor), from pan (all) + hopla (arms, armor), plural of hoplon (weapon).

USAGE:
“Ask one of those corporate bosses in receipt of a fat bonus why they need an incentive to do their job to the best of their ability when workers ranging from surgeons to school caretakers do not, and they are usually at a loss for a coherent explanation.
The panoply of bonuses and awards has simply become the norm.”

ஜ~§Recipe of the Day§~ஜ

Linquine w/ Summer Succotash

Ingredients:
8 ounces linguine
2 1/2 cups fresh corn kernels (cut from 3 to 4 ears), divided
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 3/4 cups stringless sugar snap peas
1 6-ounce container assorted bab tomatoes, large ones halved
1 1/4 cups sliced fresh basil
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese plus additional for serving

Preparation:
Cook pasta in large pot of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to bite, stirring occasionally. Drain, reserving 1 cup cooking liquid. Place 1/2 cup cooking liquid in blender. Add 1/2 cup corn; blend until smooth. Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add peas and remaining 2 cups corn. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cover; cook until vegetables are crisp-tender, stirring often, about 5 minutes. Add pasta, tomatoes, basil, 3/4 cup cheese, and corn puree. Toss until heated through and sauce coats pasta, adding more cooking liquid if dry, about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve, passing additional cheese.

Brightest Blessings,
~Surry~
